MorningStar Woollen

Regenerative farming in a modern world

Change is on the horizon...

At MorningStar Woollen, things are afoot! The time has come to search for larger (and hopefully flatter) pastures. I am sad, excited, nervous, and thrilled to bid farewell to our beloved small plot of land I have had the honour to tend. For our community it is not a farewell. Workshops, markets, and food will still happen! See more details below.

In 2024, while flowers may take a brief backseat, I am thrilled to deepen connections with fellow farmer friends. I will be cultivating on their land base, offering workshops, growing exquisite dahlias, and selling seedlings for dye plants. Explore more about this exciting collaboration on the dedicated pages.

Three plant dye workshops will be offered this season. I have the great fortune of collaborating with Charmaine of Little Song Farm, on Bowen Island. We will be growing and cohosting these events at her farm! Thank you Charmaine!

Looking Forward

Farming in a modern world

When I think about leaving our little rock, I am reminded of a favourite childhood song… “Make new friends and keep the old, one is silver and the others gold…”

I am eager to share this new chapter with our cherished community and new friends too. While moving to a new farm, our ties to you remain steadfast. I envision a future where many of you will come to visit, where our presence at select markets and food deliveries will persist.

My vision for the future is bold and brimming with possibilities. The new project encompasses expanded accommodations, a dedicated farm store, and a sprawling textile workshop space. We'll have larger pastures, a flourishing flower field, medicinal herbs, and fingers crossed, a bustling market garden (if we find the right partner!).

But that's not all. My commitment to education and production is unwavering. I am determined to amplify our teaching efforts, broaden our production endeavors, and even play host to larger events – envision a few intimate weddings nestled amidst the beauty of the farm.

I am especially excited to immerse ourselves in a new ecosystem, to delve into the intricacies of farming in harmony with native flora and fauna. Our new location promises more opportunities for visitors to witness this beautiful dance – a tapestry of cultivation woven with the natural world. I am committed to observing, learning, and investing in Regenerative farming practices that promote healing of the soil, the very foundation of everything we produce and share.

I am eager to reach you through thoughtful designs, healthful products, engaging workshops, and musings on soil science. If you have not already, follow along on Instagram and sign up for our newsletter to be part of this exhilarating journey of transformation. Together, let's witness the exciting unfolding of our future at MorningStar Woollen.

Authenticity & Values

We believe that some of the questions we have about health, human connection and sustainability can be answered by quietly observing and responding authentically to nature. We value physical and mental health, creativity, community and nature's role in facilitating all three.

Learning & Educating

One of our passions is sharing what we learn with you - lessons from the classroom, our neighbours, the global farming community and the unfolding of life moment by moment and season by season on the farm. We pass on what we've learned through our workshops, products, podcasts and farm stories. Follow us on social media to learn more.

Nature & Design

We are led by nature's perfect simplicity, warmth and beauty to create garments that serve people and the environment. Our background in design and passion for natural fibers inspired our foray into ranching, but the raw and delicate artistry of nature has us hooked on the exquisite energy of slow clothing.
